Jim Deiters wins the 2015 Michigan PGA Senior PGA Professional Championship presented by O’Keefe & Mercedes

Harbor Springs, MI – Jim Deiters continued his fine play this summer by following up his opening (-3) under par round of 69 with an even par round of 72 to win the 2015  Michigan PGA Senior PGA Professional Championship presented by O’Keefe & Mercedes at Birchwood Farms Golf & Country Club.

Heading into the final round today Jim was tied with Kirk Scheerhorn, former head professional of Birchwood Farms, both had rounds of 69 on Monday. Kirk fell back some with a 38 on his opening nine and finished with a 74 today, (-1) under for the tournament, good for a 2nd place finish. Also finishing second was Lee Houtteman from Manitou Passage Golf Club. Lee followed up his opening round of (-2) under 70 with a one over par round of 73 today.

This is the first Michigan Senior PGA Professional win for Jim Deiters. Jim also won the Club Car Senior Open this past July at Bedord Valley. These two vicories should lock up his Michigan Senior PGA Player of the Year honors. Jim is the head professional at Midland Country Club.

In the Super Senior 70 and older division Larry Mancour successfully defended his title by shooting a one under par round of 71 today, for a 146 total. Larry is a PGA Life Member and is 80 years of age.

 This event also served as a qualifier for the 2015 National Senior Professional Championship to be held at Bayonet Black Horse in Seaside California on October 15-18, 2015.  The following players will join our champion Jim Deiters and represent the Michigan Section at this event : Lee Houtteman, Kirk Scheerhorn, Brian Cairns, Tom Fortuna, Kevin Muir, Jack Seltzer, Lynn Janson, Larry Emery and Clark Peterson.

This is the 3rd year in a row that this event has taken place at Birchwood Farms Golf & Country Club. The golf course was in great and shape and always provides a excellent venue for this championship.  Thank you to all of the staff for all of their help and the club for opening their doors and hosting the event.
