Mory & Dewling win the 2015 Nike State Pro Am!

Harbor Springs, MI –  The first time playing together in this event proved to be a success as Chris Mory and his amateur partner James Dewling recorded a round of 62 today on the Boyne Highlands Ross Course to put them at -13 under for the tournament, good for a two shot victory.

Chris and James started the day 4 back after a round of 69 on the Boyne Highlands Heather Course on Monday. It was the middle of their second round today where they really got things going as they went -8 under par on Holes #6 thru #14, including a birdie, eagle, birdie on holes #12, #13 and #14 today on the Boyne Highlands Ross Course. The eagle on hole # 13 was also good for the only skin on The Ross today.

Both Chris and James graduated and played on the Michigan State Golf Team from 2008  – 2012. Chris is a PGA Apprentice and teaches at the Jason Guss Academy at Hawk Hollow.

Coming in second at two shots back with a -11 under 133 total was the team of professional Jason Guss and his amateur partner Casey Lubahn. Casey is the current golf coach at Michigan State University. Jason and Casey recorded a 64 today on the Boyne Highlands Ross Course with birdies on 6 of the last 7 holes.

Also finishing in second two shots back were the teams of professional Dave Kendall from the Kendall Academy and his amateur partner Otto Black as well as the team of professional John Seltzer and his amateur partner Troy Mossel from Blythefield Country Club.

Congratulations as well to Bill Kirby who recorded a hole in one on hole #16 of The Heather !

This year the teams competed on the Boyne Highlands – Heather & Ross courses.  The defending champions Lee Houtteman and Nicholi Brons – Piche finished 5 shots back with a 136 total.

We would like to thank Nike for their sponsorship of this event and continued support of the Michigan PGA Section. They once again had the Nikemobile pro shop set up in the Country Club of Boyne at The Ross Course and all amateurs and professionals received a $100 credit to spend in that shop.

We would also like to thank our host site Boyne Highlands. The golf courses are always in great shape and they provide a great venue for this event.
