Defending Michigan Open Champion Helps at LaFontaine Automotive Group VIP Outing

HIGHLAND TOWNSHIP – Jeff Cuzzort received a lease on a new Cadillac SRX from sponsoring LaFontaine Automotive Group when he won the Michigan Open Championship last year.

The Grosse Ile golf professional is still driving it and said Friday at a LaFontaine VIP golf outing at Prestwick Village that he is a LaFontaine customer for life.

“They worked to get me in the car I wanted, and they have just been fabulous,” Cuzzort said before playing in the pro-am format.

He will head the field of 156 golfers starting Monday in the 99th Michigan Open, and the third consecutive hosted by Prestwick Village and presented by LaFontaine.

“I would love to win another Cadillac lease,” he said. “I’m excited about defending. It’s going to be a great field at a great course with a great sponsor.”

PGA professionals or top amateur players from Michigan played in each group of Friday’s outing that LaFontaine annually hosts to thank its customers. Ryan LaFontaine called it a day of community involvement.

“It is a good outing for all of our customers and a way to show our appreciation,” he said. “It’s fun. This is a great venue across the street from our Cadillac dealership and our customers really enjoy playing with the PGA professionals.”

Justin Phillips, the director of competitions for the Michigan PGA, which directs the Open, said it should be an exciting week at Prestwick.

“We have a strong, deep field, 10 past champions, several former Michigan Amateur champions, mini-tour guys, the best players in the section, too,” he said. “And LaFontaine does a wonderful job as presenting sponsor and Prestwick is a perfect venue for the championship.”

LaFontaine Automotive Group has 22 franchises in 16 locations across southeast Michigan, and for the third consecutive year will present the Michigan Open champion with a lease on a new Cadillac.

Prestwick is located just north of Milford and features a Ron Garl-designed championship course and award-winning practice center.
