Deiters / Goulding hot start propels win at the 2017 Earth Networks Senior Junior Championship

Ypsilanti, MI – To say that the team of professionals Jim Deiters from Midland Country Club and Brent Goulding from Prestwick Village Golf Club got off to a hot start would be an understatement. In the first round of the Earth Networks Senior Junior Championship at Washtenaw Golf Club they birdied 13 of their first 16 holes on route to an opening round of 59 ( -13).

33 teams participated Monday in this 36 hole best ball event consisting of one PGA Member ages 50 and over and one PGA Member under the age of 50.

After the opening round of 59 the team of Deiters and Goulding held a 6 shot lead heading into the afternoon round over the father son team of Jack Seltzer from the Jack Seltzer Golf Academy and John Seltzer from Blythefield Country Club.

That early lead proved to be enough as Deiters and Goulding went on to shoot a (-4) under par round of 68 in the afternoon, putting them at (-17), giving them a 3 shot victory and their first Senior Junior Championship title.

Making a charge with an afternoon round of 64 was the team of PGA Life member David Horstman and Matt Thompson from Marshall Country Club ,this put them in second place alone at (-14).

Finishing in a tie for 3rd at (-13) were the teams of Dave Kendall from the Kendall Golf Academy along with his partner Ian Ziska from Katke Golf Course at Ferris State and the father son team of Bill Mory from Meridian Sun and Chris Mory from Hawk Hollow.
