Fall Meeting Well Attended

The Michigan PGA held its Annual Fall Meeting on Monday, October 28. With approximately 265 Members in attendance, President Gary Koenes welcomed everyone to Eagle Eye Golf Club. Jim Dewling gave the invocation and remembered deceased members Robert Clark, Ben Davis and Tom McCormick.

Special guests included Frank Chieppa, Player Development Regional Manager from the PGA, District 5 Director Gil Gusweiler and Tim Marks, PGA Employment Consultant.

Vice President Doug White, along with Executive Director Kevin Helm, reviewed the Section’s investments as well as year-to-date financials.

Secretary Ron Osborne acknowledged and welcomed new members, quarter and half century members as well. He also congratulated the third class of inductees into the Michigan PGA Hall of Fame: Steve Brady, Dave Kendall and Ron LaParl.

Honorary President John Lindert oversaw the voting for Officers. Those elected were Doug White, President, Ron Osborne, Vice President and Kevin McKinley, Secretary. Lindert administered the oath of office to the newly-elected officers as well as all Chapter officers in attendance.

The membership also voted for 2014 Special Awards nominations. The following members will have an interview with the Special Awards Committee:

The afternoon seminar consisted of a panel discussion talking about the pros and cons regarding the practice of online booking and internet sales of third party resellers. The panel consisted of Bob Bales, PGA Member, serving as the moderator, Bill Durham, PGA Member, Eric Fink, PGA Member, Charlie Klaus, GolfNow, and Scott Merchant from Golf Pipeline.

The second portion of the afternoon was Gallagher Benefit Services talking about the Affordable Care Act. They explained how the evaluation process will influence your insurance purchasing decisions whether you’re an employee looking to obtain coverage or an employer deciding what to offer.
