Journey to Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Five juniors representing Michigan are set to compete at the Drive, Chip, & Putt National Finals! These five skilled golfers will test their wits against 80 other juniors on golfs biggest stage Sunday, April 5th at Augusta National Golf Club.

P.J. Maybank of Cheboygan, Anika Dy of Traverse City, Jordan Jurmu of Marquette, Coalter Smith of Grosse Pointe Farms, and Satchel Pierce of Edwardsburg began their journey during the summer of 2014 at the local qualifying level. A top three finish in their age division earned them the right to compete at a sub-regional. At the sub-regional stage a top two finish was required in order to compete at the regional final. From there the top overall point earners in each division were congratulated, and formally given their invitation to the national finals being held in just three days!

In addition to the five Michigan natives we would also like to recognize five other juniors who advanced at Prestwick Village Golf Club in Highland, MI this past September. Vanessa Borovilos of Toronto, ON, Olivia Zambruno of Mount Pleasant, PA, Lydia Swan of North East, PA, Isaiah Swan of North East, PA, and Maxwell Moldovan of Uniontown, OH showed great poise and determination as they bested their age division to compete at Augusta National.

We wish all the competitors the best of luck, and viewers can tune in to catch all the action of the 2015 Drive, Chip, & Putt Championship live on the Golf Channel Sunday at 9 AM.

The Michigan PGA and Golf Association of Michigan will conduct eleven Drive, Chip, & Putt qualifiers in 2015 including two sub-regionals. This competition is free and you can register online at
